Just discovered at the SDSU library: Mango on-line language acquisition.
I’m a huge critic when it comes to how foreign languages are taught, so I’m giving it a test drive myself, and learning a little Italian. I’m impressed! it is systematic, interactive, an there’s a built in review system that makes you recall what you just learned. And best of all, it’s free. The dash board is a cinch to maneuver, and you can run through she short chapters slowly or quickly.
Pros: Easy to use, systematic, interactive (you say phrases and sentences),built in review system.
Cons: No teacher or system that will correct your pronunciation. You have to moderate that yourself.
Languages include Arabic (Iraqi), Chinese (Mandarin), Dutch, Farsi (Persian), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, or Spanish (Latin America) and American Sign Language (ASL). Learn a new language or supplement your recent language learning to help strengthen and/or your language skills prior to study abroad.
Access Mango Languages directly from the library’s website.
Why not give it a try?
