Coming June 2017: One of SDSU’s most popular courses, GEO 303 Natural Disasters will be offered abroad in Portugal and the Azores Islands. This course fulfills Explorations Requirements. Isabelle SacramentoGrilo

The 6 week expedition will be led by Geology professor Isabelle SacramentoGrilo, who has been awarded Outstanding Faculty and Most Influential Faculty.  The course will include 3 weeks exploring the Azores Islands emphasizing the tectonic hazards of the north Atlantic: earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanoes and landslide/coastal erosion, and 3 weeks in Continental Portugal. Students will also get to know the culture of Portugal, and be able to appreciate the impact that natural hazards have on peoples lives. Students will bring science and culture together in one of the most beautiful and historic places in the world.

Price and exact dates TBD; course price will include accommodations, excursions, and transportation within Continental Portugal and Azores Islands.

Course details will be finalized by Fall 2016. Students may be partially subsidized by SiPN: Study in Portugal Network. Priority registration will be given to College of Sciences majors. The course will be led by SDSU Geology Professor Isabelle SacramentoGrilo. For more information email .
