This year’s banquet will be held at the Hilton San Diego Mission Valley. The Hilton San Diego Mission Valley is located at 901 Camino Del Rio South in San Diego, approximately 6 miles west of SDSU (map link below). Onsite parking for the event is $5 per vehicle (cash preferred).
The Friday evening event begins with a social hour at 6pm (no-host cash bar), then dinner at 7pm. The meal will be followed by the evening’s program. The program will include presentation of the Baylor Brooks Honored Alumni Award to this year’s deserving recipients:

John and Diane Robinson – John and Diane live in Colorado and have followed the activities of the Department for many years. The Department’s Robinson Undergraduate Research Fund was established by them in 2010 to maintain and enhance undergraduate student research in the Department of Geological Sciences. John graduated from SDSU in 1973 (BS) and 1975 (MS). He earned a PhD in Geology at the Colorado School of Mines. John has had a long and successful career in the petroleum industry. He formed his own consulting company, North Ranch Resources, in 2003.

Vincent J. Landis – Vince lives in Lakeside, California, and has been a longtime supporter of the Department, even though he is retired from the Department of Chemistry. Vince received his BS from Washington State College and PhD in Inorganic Chemistry from the University of Minnesota. Baylor Brooks was the acting Dean of Physical Sciences and hired Vince as an inorganic chemistry professor in 1954. Vince has likely been on more geology thesis committees than anyone else. Vince has enjoyed many geologic field trips over the decades, and is now enjoying his retirement with a new Toyota 4Runner TRDPro.
The dinner will NOT be buffet-style this year. The plated selections include braised beef short ribs, herb marinated grilled chicken breast, or portobello stack (vegetarian). Please indicate your selection on the attached reservation form.
As a fund-raiser to partially fund students’ banquet meals and other Alumni Association activities, there is a silent auction that will be set up at the beginning of the evening and will conclude after the evening’s program. If you have any items to donate to the auction, please bring them and/or contact Greg Cranham at . Remember cash/check for your silent auction “wins”!

CURRENT SDSU GEO-STUDENTS – At least 50 percent of your banquet fee will be reimbursed if you make a reservation by the deadline AND show up at the banquet!!! And, remember, SDSU geo-alumni may be your future employers and are a great bunch of people!
