April’s Spring Dinner Workshop was designed to revive the excitement and continue the dialogue initiated during the October 2011 Forum between community and academic participants on the rationale for and importance of developing effective and “true” CBPR partnerships to eliminate cancer health disparities in San Diego and Imperial Counties.  The workshop’s purpose is to provide opportunities for participants to meet others with whom common research interests can be shared and explored, initiate a dialogue for potential community based participatory research relationships in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere that promotes teamwork, collaboration and trust; and develop and strengthen a shared understanding of CBPR by examining existing assumptions and biases and exploring new concepts and ideas through a process of mutual learning and respect.
